I know it can be overwhelming to think about how to get started sewing, but did you know that YouTube has tens of thousands of videos that show how to sew practically anything? They do. Just go to YouTube.com and type in the search box and you will see how to set up your sewing machine, how to thread your sewing machine, how to sew any particular part of a garment, and lots of tips to make any part of sewing easier and faster. Free sewing instructions from home! How cool is that?

There are videos showing how to cut out garment using a pattern, how to make your own patterns, and all kinds of ways to embellish your garments too. They even have videos for each particular brand of sewing machine! So there is no reason not to get going if you have a sewing desire going on!

Now some people like a classroom setting, so that is an option too. Many fabric stores offer group sewing classes, and there are usually classes at community colleges and city adult classes through the Parks and Recreation departments. But really, it’s easy to check out videos and do it from your home! And besides it’s free! I love that there are free sewing instructions! It would have saved me time and money if they were available when I was learning to sew!

Or if you prefer, there are videos for sale at Amazon teaching how to sew, so there is no excuse not to get going if you have the desire. I started sewing when I was 4! Of course that was hand sewing, but by the age of 9 I was sewing on a machine, so if you want to, you can find a way!

Here are a few videos of free sewing instructions to show you what I mean. You can also check out Easy Sewing Projects for more instructions and fun projects!
